Re: “Faces from the frontline

I cant belive what I just read! This is one of the most disgusting articals Ive EVER read! really, how dare Orum disgrace the names of these men with those lies. I was with Bco 1 503rd myself for my time in the army. I trained with these men since Korea and fought by their side in Iraq. I can honestly tell you all that Bco had a standard that was unmatched bar none, something that this person SERIOUSLY LACKED! I remember when he first showed up myself. personally I tried not to be judgemental but as time went on his lack of integrity and honesty shined through. This is something that is just unacceptical. Because, when it comes down to it, all we have is each other. Like being a family with a bond that we know we would die to save eachother. Sgt Shackelford was a tough man and was tough but fair to his men. He was like this for a reason, because he cared for his men so much that he wanted them to be the best and to prepare them for the hardships that we would endure out there. The day before he died he came into the Co HQ and sat and visited with my section sgt and watched tv for awhile. The next day they were attacked and I learnd later that him and another sgt were killed. I know in my heart and by his character he fought vicsiously till the end. My prayers go the real heros. Orum never seen any combat, he was a poor soldier, he was more a hinderance than a asset. He WAS a total disgrace to Bco 1 503rd I know for a fact he never pulled the trigger once let alone at a child nor delt with picking up any of our fallen brothers. How can a 5ft 1in guy be perfect for jumping 12ft walls? If he was to stand up as striaght as he could with his arms raised the wall would have 2ft on him. We did burn excrement. Nobody and I mean nobody feard him at any time. Shoot, we werent afraid of our enemy. Why would we be afraid of him? We didnt need to be reminded of our responsablities we all knew the risks. IT IS OUR DUTY to keep our country and, most of all, our families safe. Any soldier from any war knows this, WE WERE IN HELL but were taking over. Our base was on the very edge of ramadi not in a romote location. Heck, the other four Companies were across the street. Do you know how many people are in a battalion not to mention that the nearest army and marine bases were 10 mins down the road? well Iguess by now you can tell by the length and the words in this coment box that his words ''BUG THE HECK OUTTA ME'' . I truly feel that if Orum was a true friend to these men that he would not LIE about these experiences he claimes to have gone through. He truely has no ptsd because for a soldier to have ptsd he would have had to been there. I want to say this before I go, it has been an absolute honor to fight beside all of you! I will never forget any of you and for our friends that didnt come home, your families raised truly outstanding men. spc Nathan tatro
