Re: “Drink, drank ... drunk?

It just amazes me how the D.A. John Newsome and his Assistant just got away with this. And now it is being swept under the rug like no one cares that they got away with something that they so diligintly prosecuted to the fullest degree of the law daily. I personally know a person that got a DUI for stopping at 7-11 for something to eat and the cashier called the cops on him for smelling like alcohol. The police said he was on camera driving up so he was guilty of DUI. So these same rules that our police department use on the citizens do not apply to anyone with a job in our government. Especially if you are the D.A., Assitant D.A., or a Police Officer. This is an issue I believe needs to go forward and not forgotten. Both partys need to be responsible for their actions. They should have to pay the fines,go to and pay for the classes and counseling, do random breathalyzers, and report to a Probation Officer for a year or two just like everyone else "CAUGHT" for drinking and driving. It was on camera and happened numerous times. That would be enough for the D.A.'s office to bring you to court and prosecute you to the fullest. Especially if they chose which Judge they wanted you to appear in front of,but that is another topic of El Paso County's Courthouse. I have spoken to a great many people in this city that are just outraged about this topic. The new D.A. should re-evaluate all the DUI cases prosecuted under Newsomes rule and see how many could have been an eror in judgement due to being intoxicated or hungover. Alcohol does impare judgement in all people and gives the false sense of being invulnerable. We should all be giving the option of a half witted "I'm sorry I got caught" apoligy like John Newsome did. He may be out of office now and have to pay a whopping $100 dollars for misappropiation of funds. But do you really think he learned a lesson from any of it. And as for cheyenne mountain, for real are you a prosecutor or a cop because you show real bias on this subject.
