Re: “Explosives, junk contribute to Vista Grande neighborhood tensions

The article on John Britten was missing some important details I was interested in finding out. How long has Mr. Britten's family been in the Springs, what about the father (i.e. past military), which schools did the family attend (i.e. D11), past employers, who introduced him to drugs in the Springs, etc. In short, was Mr. Britten and his family typical long term residents of the Springs or are they from another community where these issues are also a problem and they came to the Springs on their slide down the ladder (continuous police, courts, and jail cycle)? Please let us know.

Re: “Sucked in by the magnet

I have been reading the CSI for years and this article raised some interesting questions about what some people call diversity. There seems to be some students at Wasson that keep an eagle eye out for something that they do not like and when it comes time to say anything negative about a person, out comes that something they did not like. In Mr. Hansens case, just carrying a religious book was something that certain students did not like. What has me wondering is, if Mr. Hansen had either worn a menorah, carried the holy Quran, or wore a rainbow flag, would these same astute students have made such comments? I bet not because those minorities would not let students get away with saying such hate speech and demand that those students take diversity training. Just think, in a few years those same watchful students will be in the work place making sure others, whom they do not like, do not ruin their narrow scheme of work place diversity. Diversity is not a game where you can go down the line and say youre diverse to several people then pick out one person and say but, youre not. What are these students learning at that school? Another thing that worries me is the idea that you still have to check your principles at the door when at work, for years people with alternative lifestyles have had to fear someone making an issue of their life style choices that would cost them their jobs. Now it seems since Mr. Hansens religious lifestyle has been outed , hes had to leave Wasson. Lastly, the CSI, being the vanguard of the minority and the diverse in the Springs, should have perceived those derisive students comments as nothing more than ad hominem attacks and not casually passed them on to the public.
