The Collective’s new menu offers more conventional modern bar fare

The Collective sister outfit to Wobbly Olive has changed entirely. Gone are indulgent dishes like a burger with fried mac and cheese and hot Cheetos, replaced by more conventional fare, designed in collaboration with kitchen manager Brennon Dupee. Gone too are the $10-ish prices — most offerings hover between $12 and $15 now. We pick up an apple + candied bacon flatbread ($12) to start, which comes out around a pile of pickled cabbage (not listed on the menu), a nice counterpoint to the sweet-veering flatbread itself, heavier on the braised apple than bacon. We miss rosemary crème cheese and sweet onion noted on the menu. We order fish tacos but receive equal-price buffalo chicken tacos ($12) instead with no explanation. Side chips come with a cumin-heavy salsa that bears unexpected and eye-opening heat. It’s zingier even than the tacos, which land with a pleasant vinegar-pepper balance, made punchy by blue cheese sauce and mellowed by apple spears, a fine bar bite overall.
