Other than the Black Sheep, Colorado Springs’ live music venues tend to shy away from anything resembling electronica, leaving deprived digital fans little alternative but to make the trek up to Denver clubs like Beta for their weekly fixes. So the booking of The Lagoons and Harry Paradise at Ivywild is something of an anomaly, although both of these acts keep their beats-per-minute down to an acceptable level for even the most mellowed out indie-folk or yacht-rock devotee. Brothers Joey and Ryan Selan formed The Lagoons back in 2015 and have since moved from L.A. to Austin. Their best-known track “California” — with its easygoing blend of sunset synth-pads, moonlit saxophone and mellifluous vocals — was subsequently licensed by Golf Digest and BMW for The Getaway video series. Austin electronic music producer Paradise, meanwhile, is less likely to lull you into a sandtrap, with a laptop full of darker beats and more idiosyncratic soundscapes.
