People in Boulder like Phish and the Grateful Dead, right? Sure, let’s go with that. Well, if you also like Phish and the Grateful Dead, but still want to receive a bit of high culture with your hippie jam band music, do I have news for you. The Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center hosts classically trained pianist Holly Bowling on Jan. 31. Bowling studied piano performance at San Francisco State University and brings a “technically advanced, emotionally rich” style to the aforementioned works, reinterpreting songs like “It’s Ice” and “The Squirming Coil” as fully realized neoclassical works, catching the notice of Bob Weir and Phil Lesh in the process.

Actually, we do have one more Dead-related item: Original members Weir, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann have announced that they’ll be bringing their spinoff band Dead & Company to Boulder’s Folsom Field on July 13 and 14. Tickets to see the band, which also features pop star John Mayer on guitar, Oteil Burbridge on bass and Jeff Chimenti on keyboards, will go on sale this Friday, Jan. 26.Meanwhile, here are some notable shows taking place across Colorado in the weeks ahead:
