Re: “Kineo Mountain

I recently discovered Mt. Kineo and the fantastic hiking it offers. When I do it though, I tend to do kind of a reverse of this route.

On Gold Camp rd, a little before the trailhead to the seven bridges trail, there is another trailhead that you can take, which leads to a trail that climbs directly up Kineo, going east. This trail brings you to the ridge, which you follow west for awhile till it intersects with the trail leading to the summit.

Coming down the summit, you can continue on the trail you were on, which will start to bring you down the other side of Kineo, and then following Bear Creek west till you get to Jones Park. At Jones Park you get back onto the seven bridges trail system which you can take back to Gold Camp.

It's about 7 miles and my favorite hiking loop. Also frequented by mountain bikers and occasional horses.
