Re: “Student accountability, 'fair and clean' county elections, gun fear and more

Sally, it's too bad your view that "our world seems to become more frightening and dangerous" is having a detrimental affect on your enjoyment of the Holidays, but if you'd choose to conduct some research, you'd find that firearms violence is actually decreasing, except in some large, urban areas (Chicago, Detroit, D.C.) that have enacted massive regulatory measures (simply Google "is gun violence up or down" for overwhelming evidence of this).

Please make a resolution next year to get the facts and tangible data about matters that concern you before succumbing to such distress, and in the meanwhile, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Re: “Lamborn, fracking and free speech; gun laws and more

Elaine, it looks like your claims of "fraud" have been sufficiently debunked and shot full of holes (no pun intended) by not one, but three educated, informed individuals who chose to research the subject instead of letting blind partisanship guide their thoughts and deeds. Care to explain and/or defend your initial stance at this point?

Re: “Gun deaths, outdoor rudeness, Ranger Rich and more

"What about New York City, Thinker? Huge restrictions on guns, low crime rate"

Really, Gina?

While figures do indeed fluctuate, the Big Apple, like the urban locales I mentioned previously, is awash in firearms-related violence much greater per capita than areas with less restrictive regulations.

Re: “Gun deaths, outdoor rudeness, Ranger Rich and more

Elaine, cities with extreme firearms restrictions (Chicago, Detroit, D.C.) also have lopsided incidences of gun violence, proving that making an item essentially illegal to possess doesn't have any tangible benefit and that "feel good/do nothing" legislation will never make a positive impact toward reducing the figures.

Re: “War and society, anti-fracking votes, health care, and more

happyfew, could you please provide a link detailing the dates, locations and specific amount(s) "spilled" that you've referred to here?

Clara, your abhorrence is as misplaced as your faux-indignation.

Re: “War and society, anti-fracking votes, health care, and more

Clara, you suggest because germs exist we should have gov't mandated/imposed universal healthcare, and that a "few eggs" is a reasonable price to pay as a subsequent result of enforcement--you could make one he!!uva omlette with the millions already broken and scrambled!

A majority of Americans however, think this is an extreme federal overeach (why is the gov't even involved in health-care, and what gives them the right to force citizens to purchase a private commodity?), and if you subscribe to the idea of cradle-to-grave entitlements, please Google "Life of Julia" for an advanced primer on the concept; it sounds like you're exactly the demographic the administration is trying to reach.

"we don't hear about them, and most times the EPA doesn't either"

Then how do YOU know when/where they occur, happyfew?
