Re: “Letters

ThomasMc, Nowhere in this discourse was there any endorsement of Bush jetting back to his ranch or any other public servant doing anything similar. The President works for us. He interviewed during the campaign and we hired him during the election. It amazes me that high ranking individuals in government and the private sector, have so much time to play so soon after taking office. It is particularly galling that it is at our expense.
And, why is my criticism of Obama characterized as "rage" when not just criticism, but ridicule of our former President considered a patriotic duty. If you want rage I'll talk about CEOs whose time is worth millions who have time to play golf when their companies are failing.

ThomasMc, Who said I did't have a problem with Bush jetting back to his ranch? I have a problem with any public servant living like a rock star while having convinced the public during the election that he or she just wants to solve our nation's problems. The difference is that the President is supposed to set the example. Clinton, McCain, Obama, and other highly paid Senators somehow were worth their salaries supposedly serving their respective states while campaigning for two years. Now, as President, Obama is already comfortable enough to be taking time off to cross-country date. And before anyone thinks I'm just confused about politicians, I also question CEOs who are worth millions, supposedly, and yet have regular time off for golf and parties etc. Try that if you are a small businessman or an hourly wage earner. And yet, I've never seen a media interview where the reporter asks, "How can you best represent the state of New York as a Senator when you've been on the campaign trail for almost two years.
Back to the jets. Would Bill be OK next year if the Thunderbirds flew smaller jets?

Re: “Letters

President Obama recently used Air Force One to tak his wife to see a play in New York City. I wonder how much his "date night" cost the taxpayers. The cost would include not only the use of the 747, but the cost of Secret Service protection in the New York theater district.
I'm waiting for a complaint from Bill Sulzman similar to the one he made about the Thunderbirds perfoming at the Academy graduation. I will probably have to keep waiting. The Thunderbirds perform to celebrate over 1000 young men and women who just completed 4 years at something other than one of the top ten party colleges and who will go on to serve the United States Air Force. Obama's flight, like the ones he takes to take his wife to dinner in Chicago is for his own personal enjoyment.
By the way, why didn't the President take mass transit as he would have all of us do? It would have significantly lowered the carbon footprint for the occasion. Get used to at least 4 more years of jetting around the country for such dates.
