I left out the word "Injury" above regarding Expanded Veteran's Benefits coverage that requires pre and post deployment testing for Traumatic Brain "Injury".

Re: “Vets jumping the Republican ship

This article shows that those of us who have served our country are just as frustrated with the last 8 years of reckless leadership as our civilian neighbors. Simply because Senator McCain served in the Navy 30 years ago does not mean he has the military vote in his pocket. In fact, Senator McCain has been no friend to veterans. He opposed the new GI Bill that thankfully passed 92 to 6 in the Senate. Senator McCain even skipped the votes on this measure to benefit post 9/11 vets and also failed to even show up to vote for several recent measures to enhance veterans benefits such as adaptive housing for disabled veterans, streamlining disability claims processing, requiring pre and post deployment tests for Traumatic Brain and allowing reserve component troops who separate from the military to keep their education benefits. Military personnel have also faced unprecedented numbers of back-to-back combat tours, inadequate equipment, criminal neglect of PTSD and disgraceful quality of care at treatment facilities like Walter Reed for war-related injuries. Enough is enough. The future requires a commander-in-chief and President with a commitment to integrity and social justice at home and abroad. The last thing this nation needs is four more years of mean-spirited jingoism, war profiteering and unbridled corruption. Senator Obama will have the judgment to use military force when necessary, and will not place military personnel and their families in harms way without just cause. Now is the time to vote for a leader with the intelligence, conviction and noble purpose needed to restore our nations reputation and follow through with an honest commitment to military veterans in time of war on the battlefield and when they return home.
