Tribe: An Examination of Race and Culture in Our Society

When: July 9-Sept. 28 2010

Botany and social studies combine at the Business of Art Center (513 Manitou Ave., Manitou Springs, this summer with three new shows: Rare — Imperiled Plants of Colorado; Overlooked and Underfoot: Common but Beautiful Plants of Colorado; and Tribe — An Examination of Race and Culture in Our Society. Tribe should be particularly interesting, as it features pieces by local artist Margaret Kasahara, who paints with a slick, ultra-fine finish and explores the outsider feelings of her Asian heritage. The BAC is open Tuesdays through Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and entry is free. The show hangs until Sept. 28. — Edie Adelstein
