If, for whatever reason, you’re trying to track down members of The Nobodys, the best place to start is the Triple Nickel Tavern. Chances are good you’ll find owner JJ Grueter there behind the bar, or at least one of his bandmates in front of it. In addition to being the pioneering pop-punk band’s unofficial headquarters, the Triple Nickel has remained a downtown mecca for the local music scene for the past dozen years. This Friday and Saturday, the “most rockin’ place in the Springs since Focus on the Family” will celebrate its 12th anniversary with a musically diverse lineup of bands, many of whom played their earliest shows there. The first night finds Tejon Street Corner Thieves, Street Priests and Pigeye Jackson sharing the stage, while the second will feature Dear Rabbit, Night of the Living Shred, The Youthful Nothings and Had I Known. Together, they will prove that, whatever directions the music itself may take, punk rock’s energy and spirit are still going strong.
