Re: “Memorial's double bypass?

Headline: Zubeck, can't have her cake and eat it too....
Zubeck has been complaining about Memorial being a public entity for years. At every turn colorado residence hear you say: “government should not be in healthcare”, “sell Memorial”, “Memorial is a liability, get rid of it”. Zubeck tries to create public fear making people think Memorial is a liability and supported by tax payers, even know that is simple not true. Now Zubeck complains wait, if we get rid of it, we won't have public accountability. Where does she really stand?
I'm all about public accountability, business transparency, and public need to know but all with limits. As they say in the Medical world “do no harm”. Frankly, most of articles you have written over the years about Memorial in the name of public need to know have done more harm than good. Employees are disrupted, it breads misstrust in management, causes job insecurity, and overall detracts from the business of providing good health care. Ironically, you finally published something accurate, your "open records well of information" is about to run dry. Once Memorial goes "not for profit" they will join the prevlaged ranks of Centura and others that tell you to go pound sand with your records requests.
Think about all those jucy stories you might miss. Headline "hospital hires Larry Singer as a consultant", Headline "Memorial gives out millions in bonuses to doctors and exec's", Headline "hospital cut back on free care, tax payers must now pickup the tab". Those are the kind of stories any reporter is dying break right? Seriously, get a life it's not going to happen. However, if it does, you will sleep well at night because, you will NEVER know about it. Happy new year…….
