Re: “No force behind parking for disabled

Apparently the City of Colorado Springs is more concerned about Illegal Parking in the downtown and Old Colorado City, then it is concerned about the HANDICAPPED. What a callous outlook the city has toward us handicapped. Maybe the City Council and Police Chief need to be replaced by persons that are more contientious.

Re: “No force behind parking for disabled

I think all the handicapped individuals that are concerned with the "Illegal Parkers" in C.S. should immediately go to the next City council meeting and state their case about the callous individuals taking spaces around the city ILLEGALLY. A Ordinance should be created that forces the Police to have Towed any ILLEGALLY parked vehicle, especially those parked Illegally in a handicapped zone. Give a Illegal not only a fee for the tow, but one of say $200.00 that would go directly to the city coffers, thus making more money for the Police to DO their jobs. If this won't work, and the Police will NOT enforce current Ordinances, then the Handicapped citizens should start blocking in the Illegal Parkers, and not move until the Police come out to take care of possible violence because of the blocking, or enforce the current Ordinance. We handicapped cannot and should not have to suffer at the result of some Illegal parker. If none of the above takes place then maybe the handicapped should start carrying box cutters, and or ice picks to take care of the tire valve, or tire of a Illegal parker's vehicle, insuring that they cannot move, at least for a while making them suffer some redress at least. Also leave a note identifying the Illegal act, so that they can be sure you will stand up for your rights, as given by the Americans With Disabilities Act & The Constitution. The City should also NOT blame these citizens for taking matters into their own hands because of the callous acts made by the Colorado Springs Police Department in NOT choosing to enforce City Ordinances.
