A regional search led the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs to choose Marc Pino as its permanent campus police chief starting July 1.

Pino has served as interim chief since August 2016 when Brian McPike resigned and took a job with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office as fiscal and compliance manager. He's since left that department.

Pino started with UCCS as an officer in 2005. He received the UCCS Garrett Swasey Outstanding Staff Award, named for the officer who was one of three people killed during the November 2015 siege at Planned Parenthood.
