Re: “UPDATE: Bible verse gets Mikey going, again

Maybe the cadet likes seeing it as they enter their room. It is a personal space, although the Academy is more than free to A) declare them to no longer be such or B) still list restrictions on what can be placed there (much like restrictions on what you can have in your yard in base housing).

The Academy, in my opinion, went with the best response. They had it removed and will probably offer further guidance about such displays in the future.

I do not feel that there was any violation of the AFI, and there was certainly no violation of the Constitution.

While religious imposition would certainly have a negative impact on the military, Weinstein seems to be taking things to an opposite extreme which would ALSO negatively affect the climate. Instead of trying to work with people to improve things, he's seemed quite adversarial, and made ME uncomfortable as an agnostic

If this was part of a larger pattern of action by the cadet, something that they were trying to bring attention to and push on others, that would be another thing.

BirdManBlue, I've read it. You should give it a try.

"They can't have Obama or Romney stickers on their cars when they come to work. "

Had you bothered to read it, you might have noticed, for example:

"2.13.4. You may support or endorse a particular political candidate, party, cause, or issue through displaying a bumper sticker on your personally owned vehicles."

I would suggest Weinstein actually READ documents before complaining about someone 'violating' them. There is no regulation preventing military personnel from displaying religious text, symbols, etc in their personal areas. If he would like it made a professional space, then things could be different.

He seems to have gone straight past freedom of and from religion all the way to anti-religion
