Velvet Hills Chorus, the award-winning Colorado Springs chapter of Sweet Adelines International, has performed and entertained in the Pikes Peak Region for 50 years. With its rehearsal venue at Harmony Hall, 3815 N Academy Boulevard, the chorus, under the direction of the dynamic Kathy Carmody, is comprised of 85 vibrant women who collaborate to make extraordinary music, singing 4-part a cappella harmony, barbershop style, a classic American art form. To celebrate its half century, the chorus is presenting a show - Gold Is In The Air - on Saturday, September 19, at Armstrong Hall, 14 E Cache La Poudre, on the Colorado College Campus. The show is a flight through its 50 year history, with the popular quarter VLOC (Very Light Opera Company) as Mistresses of Ceremony, and performances by the America The Beautiful, the Colorado Springs men's barbershop chorus; the Pikes Peak Singers, a group from the Colorado Springs Children's Chorale; and four quartets. During the show, the former directors and charter members will be honored. Tickets are available for chorus members and through the chorus website - www.velvethills.org - at a price of $18 for Adults and $12 for Seniors (55+) and children under 12 and also at the door the day of the show at $20 for Adults and $15 for Seniors and children under 12. The public is invited to the Silent Auction in the Lobby before, during intermission and after the show and also to the Afterglow following the show.
