Something is happening in the former Castaways Bar and Venue in Manitou Springs. There’s a new social lounge/bar/restaurant there called Vibes, and after a mid-February soft opening, owners Heather Hart and Rodger Smith will grand open the space on Saturday, March 17, with live music from Saltwater Slide, Autonomous and Logan LaValley.

Hart says the event space will be available for private rental, and she and Smith intend to host regular live music, open mic events, yoga and educational seminars.

“As far as our restaurant piece goes, it’s more of a café-type thing within our event center,” she says. Hart’s been in the Springs restaurant industry for some time, but she’s been in medical marijuana since 2008, most recently working as founder and director at now-defunct Rastafarian wellness center One Love Club.

The whole menu’s plant-based and organic, featuring lots of jackfruit and seitan — as an example, she says they’ll offer seitan tandoori boneless wings with mint-cilantro chutney. She’ll also offer some non-intoxicating CBD-infused dining options.

Diners can wash their vegan eats down with cold-brewed coffees, teas, smoothies or selections from a full bar. Expect vegan beers, organic spirits and house-made syrups, including hemp-based Colorado High vodka from local Colorado Gold Distillery. Expect also an oxygen bar, with CBD-infused oxygen available.
