Be a Santa to a Senior, pick up an ornament that describes a gift for a senior citizen, purchase the gift and return it to the store unwrapped. Home Instead Senior Care will deliver the presents. Suicide Prevention Partnership, volunteers needed to work part-time doing administrative office duties. Also in need of hotline volunteers who would answer phone calls from people who may be in crisis, or those concerned about people who are. Call 573-7447 for more.

Urban Peak, volunteers needed to serve as role models who create a safe haven for homeless youth. Nonjudgmental individuals needed to play games, cook meals, facilitate activities, listen and encourage. Volunteers need to be over 21 and submit to a background screening and training process. Memorial Hospital, volunteers needed to knit lap blankets (average size of 5 feet by 3 feet) for cancer patients who may become chilled during treatments that last six to eight hours. Yarn is available through their volunteer services office. Personal patterns and creativity are encouraged. The tighter the weave, the warmer the blanket. Call 365-5298 to sign up.

Springs Rescue Mission is collecting turkeys, sweet potatoes, pies and non-perishable foods for their holiday meals program that will serve over 15,000 meals through the next few months. Donate by Nov. 23 at their offices at 5 W. Las Vegas St., at any Colorado Springs King Soopers store or at The Grace Place, 2403 Templeton Gap Rd. Call 632-1822 for more.
