Regarding "A Tough Conversation About Race," (Diversecity, July 17, 2019), Patience Kabwasa describes an "Undoing Racism" workshop as well-intentioned.However, as described by Ms. Kabwasa, the Undoing Racism workshop espouses a belief that "all white people are racist." The workshop coordinators seem to position that belief as a crucial step in our process towards national healing. But if racism is broadly defined as assigning generalized characteristics to all members of a race, and if one recognizes the inherent racism in claiming all white people are racist, then how can one take the workshop seriously? Do people truly believe that to undo racism, we must ourselves be racist towards white people? Is more racism the answer? Is that not the most incoherent manifestation of woke ideology? We can do better.
