Sasha Alcott and Chris Viner must really like each other. The couple married a decade ago in the Bangor, Maine, theater where they’d both been performers in a stage production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Shortly afterward, they were writing songs together and took to the road as When Particles Collide, performing in dive bars, backyards, living rooms and anywhere else they could play for real people in real time.

Last year, Alcott and Viner wrapped up a 14-month tour in a camper van — still on speaking terms — to take a brief respite before returning to their no-fixed-address lifestyle. With eight independently released records under their belt, the two musicians continue to employ the tried-and-true rock duo setup, with Alcott handling lead vocals and guitar while Viner mans the drums.

Playing as many as 200 shows a year, they’ve built their reputation as a high-energy act whose influences run the gamut from punk to Motown and, as the Boston Herald noted, Joan Jett to Nancy Sinatra. Alcott and Viner are calling their current cross-country journey “The Unstoppable Tour.” From any other act, that would sound like hyperbole. But coming from When Particles Collide, it’s a virtual guarantee.
