First, the city tax rate is 2.5% and the state sales tax rate is 2.9%. County sales tax is 1% and the PPRTA taxes another 1%. Denver has a sales tax of 3.6% and their transit authority adds 1% to that.

As far as utility rates, we still have some of the lowest in the country. Even after we buy a power plant, which will lower your electric bill; and pay for the new SDS pipeline your rates will still be among the lowest in the country.

And yet everyone wants to cut the budgets of everything and live for free. Well, it doesn't work that way and if you took a few moments to educate yourself you would see that we don't have all that bad. I guess it is easier to complain and whine that do a little research on the internet and get the facts.
