Re: “Michael Reese and Friends

This was a show unlike most others at Crystola and in the Springs in general. Michael Reese was nominated as "Best Guitarist of the Year" at the prestigious Los Angeles Music Awards for his work on his first solo CD, "Dragonflyer." and the friends, Kim Stone - monster bass player once part of power house Rippingtons and Spyro Gyra, Larry Thompson - one of Colorado's most accomplished performing and recording artists and former house drummer for Colorado's Caribou Ranch, and Jimmy Lange long time area keyboards wizard played for a small but appreciative crowd. The jams and solos on classic Allman Bros music and Michaels own tunes were amazing! DO NOT miss Michael wherever he plays, the friends are always around too. Next Space Jam is at Kinfolks Oct 13, 2012.

Re: “Led Zeppelin: a Rock Symphony

The Led Zeppelin Rock Symphony was a great idea and a wonderful concert. Some of the songs were: Good Times Bad Times, Dancin' Days, Kashmir, The Rain Song, The Ocean, Since I've Been Loving You, Going to California, Moby Dick, Immigrant Song, Whole Lotta Love, and Stairway to Heaven. Does anybody remember any others?

Re: “Van Briggle Pottery Tour

This is a wonderful tour but it is NOT at the address above. It is located at the corner of Uintah St. and Glen Avenue downtown.

Re: “Hear Here

Poetry 719 and their event "Hear Here" is a brilliant sythesis of diversity and endless amounts of talent. The event welcomes anyone from any different background and allows them to express themselves in whichever way they choose into an audience of understanding eyes and open ears. The family-like atmosphere which holds no discrimination and welcomes all is complemented beautifully by the environment. The Movement Arts Community Studio is a spacious venue fully equipped with large west-facing windows so that the nostalgia of Colorado sunsets over the Rocky Mountains floods in and lights up the whole room. Hear Here and the diversity of the members brings about a copius influx of talent to the Colorado Springs community. Artists, Poets, Singers, Musicians, and the like attend Hear Here and unleash their talent in the finest and purest forms that is never in ill-taste. This is an event for any and all people, and it should be known that, whether one wants to speak or be spoken to, the community and Hear Here will welcome you with open hearts.

Re: “Jazz in the Now

Freebird uses collective improvisation to create new music art in the moment. Last month's concert got raves from the audience. "Unique and engaging," they said.

Re: “Take-a-Peak Chicken-Coop Tour

Get out and see what people do in their backyards.
I'm a bit prejudiced since I organize the tour. The link above has an error and takes you off to an IPod scam. The correct link should be ' or just '

Re: “Chris Duarte

A performance nothing short of amazing.
Very danceable, straight ahead Rockin' Blues in the 'Texas Flood' style of Stevie Ray Vaughan (Rolling Stone once said CD was the only heir apparent to SRV), with that same Kick of truly inspired virtuoso Guitar work that both left folks sweaty from dancing, and shaking their heads, smiling.
Drummer and Bass are top-notch, super tight, up the challenge of backing such an amazing soloist, and the whole package had the whole place rocking from the get go. That is, when we weren't just staring in disbelief.
This is a performer who somehow keeps improving, varying styles, and rewarding the listener/dancer, despite having been the best guitarist for thousands of miles wherever he goes, for many years now.
I'm an electric-oriented Rock guy, and have seen a lot of the players on most folks "Top 100 Guitar Solos" list, in some different styles- Nuno, Adrian Belew, Ted, Eddie VH, John Lee Hooker, Zappa, Lifeson, Robin Trower, Tommy Emmanuel, to mention a few- and this guy Live is the kind of Phenom that not only satisfies like the rest, but blows people's minds.
Don't miss him next time he's in the area.

Re: “World Tai Chi Qigong Day

How wonderful is this...I'm so proud to be apart of the Tai Chi Association of Colorado Springs. I began Tai Chi and Qigong in January; learning about my body and its ability to heal itself. Learning Tai Chi and Qigong has made a difference in how I look at the world around me! The western world is missing out if it isn't catching onto Tai Chi and Qigong!
