Re: “Pikes Peak Market holds soft opening

I hope Pikes Peak Market Place opens a facebook page soon. We were just in there and it is great.

Re: “Coal Mine Dragon's punishing lunch buffet

I've always thought the same thing.
Who wants this buffet when there are several better in the area. It's not like their delivery is any better.

Re: “The Purple Toad fails to live up to its promise, despite cool mascot

Is it me or does it seem as though Mr. Schniper had already made up his mind about the place before even stepping foot in the door? He clearly has been disappointed by the Cow and is unable to be objective knowing this place is owned by the same people. The Purple Toad is by far the nicest place to eat in Falcon- the service is always excellent and the decor is both upscale and comfortable at the same time. What kind of a person slams a locally owned business for hanging up the American flag for crying out loud? This is Falcon, not L.A. or NYC and the place fits right into our neighborhood perfectly.

Ive eaten there a dozen times and everything Ive ordered has been fantastic. They actually do have a chef working in the kitchen who came from Patty Jewitt / Garden of the Gods Gourmet and was a contestant on Hells Kitchen. The reviewers opinion of just 3 out of the 40+ menu items is not a fair representation of the place as a whole...and Im sorry but Im pretty sure that most people prefer cocktails that taste smooth not being able to taste the alcohol doesnt mean there is a problem- it means the ingredients in the recipe are well-balanced. This is restaurant 101 stuff here... but I would certainly hope that the food writer at the Independent would know that already.

Re: “Trinity Brewing shows a mixed bag, clear priorities

Closest brewery to my house and they have some interesting beer. I ride past it every time because the owners attitude manages to leach through the whole place.

Re: “Pikes Peak Market opens to public

The lack of production space is what will doom the folks trying to peddle their wares. That's the reason I decided not to put in a booth for our bakery. You have to sell alot of product in order to pay for the booth and the off-site production facility. I wish them the best of luck and hopefully it will allow them to get a much larger place and production facility.

Just for clarification, Good Neighbors is situated and building community in the heart of the Patty Jewett neighborhood.

Re: “Rebirthing Is Good for You

I worked at Pasta di Solazzi as a young lady. Unfortunately, I was sexually harrassed by the head chef, Americo Boccia. Though I had been told I was doing an excellent job multiple times by staff and the owners, Gina Solazzi fired me (and other female staff who were also harrassed) instead of standing up to Mr. Boccia. She was well aware of what was going on and chose to turn a blind eye. It was difficult to understand how a fellow woman could perpetuate a culture of harassment and abuse. I cried as I left that final day. It was an intensely horrible and humiliating experience that I will never forget.

Re: “Uri Sushi adds to family legacy

Veterans or veterinarians? Either is cool in my book, just need to know who to invite.

Re: “Cocoa tea, a drink for Dominica

The cocoa tea is my favourite tea as a child in Dominica and it is still my favourite tea to this day.

Re: “Cocoa tea, a drink for Dominica

Thanks Ari and CS Independent for the pleasant surprise with an article about my little Caribbean island, Dominica. I have lived in CSprings since the 90s and have been reading the CS Indy all this time. My reggae band here will be hosting and jammin at a Dominica benefit dance at Rasta Pasta CS on Friday, October 13. Keep up the great work. I love cocoa tea.

Re: “Odyssey Gastropub announces plans for a second downtown spot

Sheila, it looks like there's more than a few such spots. There's a blog (a little out of date) that says over a third of the bars Bar Rescue has featured have closed (see http://www.barrescueupdates.com/p/all-bar-…).
Of course, that shouldn't be taken to say Bar Rescue caused these bars to close. If someone's not running a bar well, that's another problem.

Can't wait for The Bench! Downtown needs a great sports bar with craft beer and great food. Please hurry!

Re: “Odyssey Gastropub announces plans for a second downtown spot

This is the second place, that I know of, that Bar Rescue has "improved" and has shut it's doors within 2 years of the show being done. One was in Maryland and now this one.
