Re: “Thin Air Theatre Company says farewell to the Butte Theater with its final production: Angel of the Christmas Mine

Not quite sure why Chris Armbrister is credited for starting professional theater in Cripple Creek when it has been a part of the town for 75 years. TATC is the group that has been there the most recent. He has never been a full time resident of Cripple Creek. For him to claim that TATC does not receive funding is completely false. This matter has everything to do with funding and the Board seeing that money being given to TATC was not being spent as claimed.

Re: “TheatreWorks honors Kathleen Fox Collins

Kathleen has been to the arts what Pike's Peak has been to local scenery. We who have had the privilege of knowing her and working with her these last 40 years consider her a treasure and a delight.

Re: “Yellow Face brings social commentary and comedy to the CC stage

I have to wonder, would this resonate with the marginalized communities of Colorado Springs? Colorado College, by median student family income, is the wealthiest private college in the nation with $277,500 in median family income. Now go drive by Chelton and Fountain and then drive around the neighborhoods south and east of there. Would the residents there find this article relevant to their lives? Are the sons and daughters of those Japanese sent to Camp Amache going to Colorado College, or is it the sons and daughters of Chinese government officials and corporate leaders? I can't help but feel this is elites lecturing other elites, and reinforces the perception that Colorado College is a bubble that aspires to claim moral heights, but ignores the application of those ideas in our own community.

Re: “Women of SET serve up large portion

Somehow the online version of this review showed up with some paragraphing issues. The print version shows the correct paragraphing. Sorry about the additional breaks above making the review a choppy ready. Thanks...Bill Wheeler

Re: “Black Box Theatre closes doors, to be replaced by comedy club

Our family will forever be grateful for Nancy and Black Box. We are so sad to see it go as her talent was a force to be reckoned with. Nancy and Black Box had a major impact on students, parents, and the community. Joy radiates back stage and actors and audiences love being there. They have had a major impact on the community and has also won "Best of Springs" awards both last year and this year.

Re: “Black Box Theatre closes doors, to be replaced by comedy club

I'm so sorry to hear about Nancy and the Black Box theatre, but I can't wait for a new comedy club to open in Colorado Springs!

Re: “Black Box Theatre closes doors, to be replaced by comedy club

Thank to The Black Box Theater and Nancy, my Little School on Vermijo students had a place to perform Shakespeare for three years in a row. I wish her the best of luck !!!!

Re: “Black Box Theatre closes doors, to be replaced by comedy club

Back Box will be sorely missed. I was so fortunate to see many great productions there. Nancy is wonderful.

Re: “Good fences ...

Thanks for the review. I agree that it was very entertaining but a bit breakneck, and the final monologue was not nearly as helpful as I believe the playwright thought it was. Our group really enjoyed Cornelius and thought she stood out.

Re: “The Players' club

Thanks for the write-up! I'd like to give credit where credit is due: Dylan and I are only part of the group of SB veterans who keep this company running. Greg Lanning and Elizabeth Kahn also met in a Star Bar show, subsequently married and have served on the board off and on for 20 years, as has Melissa Hafter. Jan Gregg-Kelm has moved to warmer climes, but I'm pretty sure this incarnation of Star Bar would never have gotten off the ground without her. They're not the only ones, of course, but the're the core, the heart of Star Bar.

We've got some new members this year, as well, including Shayn Megilligan, Erica Hutchinson, Catherine Cotton-McGuire and Bob Morsch. It takes a LOT more than the two of us to make Star Bar happen.
