Re: “Doug Lamborn hires "faith outreach" aide

Theocrats are a good cash crop -- much emotion, little critical thinking, and a belief that they possess the ultimate truth, so all a politician needs to do is parrot them. Oh and say abortion a few times! It's easy and no wonder Trump wants churches to have more say. His support from evangelicals in the first place speaks volumes.

Re: “Colorado Medicaid changes its policy on opioid drugs in response to crisis

the long term side effects of tylenol are more serious than many diseases, this is a bad idea and potentially life threatening,,and synthetic drug may have amultiplicity of fatal side effects now just what the do gooders are trying to prove..I don;t know but, some of them should trade pain levels with cancer patients for awhile.addiction deaths are for the largest percentage occurring on recreational users(95%).Patient perscribed opoids are done so for a reason. Let the doctor decide and stay out of what is not your affair

Re: “Reader: Drivers, manslaughter is not on your bucket list

I'm sorry you had such bad luck, but don't pretend every driver is out to get you. Even on my worst bike commute ever, I interacted with two stupid people, and about 600 other vehicles that respected me and my space.

Re: “Trying for single-payer health care in Colorado

Listing all the statistics of those who have health insurance is a pride in failure. Why is "Insurance" needed? Isn't health care a basic need? Is it less important than Police or Fire protection? Why doesn't the State provide health services? The best solution for our health Care problem is for Congress to remove the federal government from the equation except to collect taxes and return them to the States on a per capita basis (to level the playing field in terms of wealth). The States then can afford to simply provide health care to their residents as a service like Police and Fire protection. there would be no insurance company involvement at all. Preexisting conditions would be irrelevant. Care would cost the absolute minimum without profits. Can the States do it? Of course they can since our States are comparable to all the foreign Nations that already are doing it and doing it well.

Re: “In race to the top, women of color unfairly come in last

Black women -- and black men, who in your mind don't exist-- would be much better off, had not liberals committed one of the most racist acts in history:

"Why affirmative action failed black families where it matters most"…

This is not what you think it is.

Re: “Health insurance companies are staying in El Paso County for now, but at a price

Time for Concierge Healthcare Sharing Systems, like Grand Junction, CO for example.

Pay $ 75 a mo. and get all basic Healthcare Services.

Old Style Healthcare Insurance is Bankrupt !

Re: “New female AFA commandant moving here soon, with her wife

"...why are they not publicly acknowledging this groundbreaking selection of a gay, female new Commandant?"

As long as we have to draw specific attention to the fact that she is lesbian, and shout it from the rooftops, we have not accepted her and her sexuality as a norm in our society. We are singling her out as being "different," something that has to be pointed out.

I salute the USAFA for NOT making a newsworthy event out of her sexuality. Perhaps they HAVE accepted it as a norm.

Re: “Raw Tools turns swords into plowshares

While the concept sounds nice, it is flawed. The types of people who are willing to give up their guns for this are not the types of people causing the problems out there with guns. Indeed, the problem isn't the guns, it is the people. In fact, there are over 37,000 people in El Paso County with concealed carry permits. To date, not one of them has been involved in an unjustified shooting. Those are numbers you just can't argue with.

Now, if we could just start bringing in criminals, and composting them for my garden, I think we'd be on to something!!!

Re: “Jared Polis, local Dems to host town hall at Library

Ms Rosenbaum should get out into the district to see the "options for small business". In fact there are small businesses opening in the district on a regular basis. Although I wasn't included in this Town Hall I look forward to a successful campaign and election.

No Nation State has ever survived spending more than 11 % of GDP on Healthcare !

USA currently spends 20 % of GDP, borrows the $$$ to pay the Tab.

What about the license plates that are getting stolen from the expo center and the hospital saying "it isn't our problem"?

Re: “Penrose Hospital workers banned from parking in the Old North End

Penrose is causing a huge safety issue with its employees by making them park off campus. They are not monitored 24/7, and the shuttle buses stop running at 11pm. What happens when someone is on call and needs to come in for an emergency? Are they forced to pay 3 dollars to get to the hospital quicker? We need to response and be present for the emergency asap. A shuttle bus causes delays in patient care. Or what happens if someone stays late past 11pm to complete patient care? Management tells us to call a taxi, and we will be reimbursed. That's a terrible system. You've to tip a taxi driver too - who will pay that - Penrose? I doubt it. No one is thinking of the patients with these decisions!
