Re: “I-25 widening campaign raises $54K

So how, exactly, is this 10 million dollars going to be spent? Is it going to be given to CDOT or is PPRTA going to get approval from them to do some work of their own. Not one article on this subject has provided any details on where the money is going.

Re: “Reader: Demand a return to "regular order"

Personally I see the division of this Country coming from the selfishness of this Country. Very few see the WE in We the People. All there seeing or are concerned with is the ME. They concern themselves in what they personally can get from Voting and our Government and are very disappointed when someone else gets something they dont want or think is needed. Campaigns use this to build a base and if that base is strong enough then they win elections. A Politician once said "ask not what our Country can do for you but ask what you can do for our Country" That no longer applies very few see whats best for all of us they only see themselves.Very few Politicians see that they represent all the people there only catering to there base. Voting could change things but good luck in getting folks to think of the masses and not just themselves.

Re: “Homes near marijuana dispensaries worth more, report says

LOL! Take that, CONO! Dispensaries increase market value, not the opposite, so no reason for neighborhood groups to oppose them!

Re: “Police are ticketing far more homeless campers than they once did

If the homeless community throw their trash in your trash can or dumpster you going to call the law? Are you going to threaten them, are you going to have them arrested if they throw their trash in YOUR trash containers? Complaining about the homeless trash, give them a dam place to throw it! The homeless also have normal, natural bodily functions just like any of you reading this. Why do think we don't? We're not allowed in any public places unless we're a paying customer and then your more likely to be told no. What are the homeless supposed to do? When your bodily functions go in motion are the homeless not allowed to function like human beings? Give us porta potties!!! Wasting tax payers money for the homeless to sit in jail learning absolutely no other skills instead getting angrier, more bitter, more rebellious against the City and the public/society leaving you the tax payer providing 3 hots and a cot instead of funding a positive outreach to help people work and house themselves instead of the tax payers housing them in jail, stop giving citations you know the homeless can not pay! (If the date on the citation is even readable). The law enforcement is only going to get a negative reaction without respect and start giving reason to earn a ticket. 3 hots and a cot just ain't the answer! Approve and fund the homeless work programs, provide inexpensive housing. Why is this so dam difficult!

Re: “Odyssey Gastropub announces plans for a second downtown spot

Sheila, it looks like there's more than a few such spots. There's a blog (a little out of date) that says over a third of the bars Bar Rescue has featured have closed (see http://www.barrescueupdates.com/p/all-bar-…).
Of course, that shouldn't be taken to say Bar Rescue caused these bars to close. If someone's not running a bar well, that's another problem.

Re: “Spring's fleet vehicles of vehicles is wearing out, but a stormwater fee could help

It might cost $500 to paint a car in Macao in the Domican Republic.

Maaco locally could probably to it for $429.00.

But why when you can buy a new one for $45,000.00?

It's only tax money which is in endless supply.

Re: “Why Fannie Mae Duncan deserves recognition

Peace. As the archivist of FATHER DIVINE's Library & Museum at the Woodmont Estate in Gladwyne, PA, I write to correct the misperception that the Peace Mission Extensions and Enterprises were/are for any particular race. The teachings of the Peace Mission include the negation of racial thinking, and members foreswear the use of all racialized terms (including "white" and "black") to live and work together as integrated children of God. FATHER DIVINE regarded all such divisions as abominations, and the renunciation of racial thinking followed by practical integration are seen by the Peace Mission as essential to true Americanism and true religion. FATHER DIVINE was teaching these doctrines as early as 1912 (our earliest documentation), and during the 1930s, the Peace Mission became the largest and most successful economic cooperative in the history of the United States with more than 30,000 integrated members, leading the cause of integration wherever Extensions developed, especially in the northeastern US. Long before Freedom Riders or the counterculture of the 1960s, members of the Peace Mission were travelling across country in red, white and blue buses emblazoned with "PEACE, Out of One Blood GOD Made All People. There were Peace Mission Extensions throughout the United States and on every continent except Asia and Antarctica.

Re: “Spring's fleet vehicles of vehicles is wearing out, but a stormwater fee could help

"Because 2A, if approved, would allow the city to collect fees totaling about $17 million..."

The city already has $17Million in the budget earmarked for stormwater. They told us that wasn't enough to keep up with the projects. We needed this new tax... er, I mean "fee." Now though, even before anyone votes on it, they are preparing to take that $17Million from the budget and use it for something else, and replace it with this new $17M from the tax/fee.

What? I thought the existing $17M wasn't enough? But you are only going to rely on the new $17M and use the existing money somewhere else? So you still won't be able to keep up them, right?

What a joke. The usual shell game with your taxes.

Re: “Reader: The NRA is winning

The NRA has been winning since influencing how the statics are collected for gun violence in America. The NRA hides the truth about gun ownership by forcing law enforcement to collect their data a certain way and by spreading gun myths and fear to American's. They may claim to advocat gun safety but they advocate hate of people of color or foreigners much more.

Re: “Police are ticketing far more homeless campers than they once did

Wonders who the genius is that decided "fining" the homeless for being homeless would be a good idea. Any money yet or do they get put in jail when they can't pay? Either way, it's a clusterf**k

Re: “City vehicles are old and need to be replaced

The old shell game, alive and well. They say the taxes in the general fund are not enough for all of the stormwater projects. So, vote for this new stormwater tax. And before you even vote for it, they are telling us that, if you do, the money they are already spending on stormwater will now go to something else, and be replaced by your new tax. So, not really an increase to take care of the problems, but just another shell game.

Re: “Waldo Canyon reopens

LOL... it's about time. The USFS said they had to close the area after the fire as it was much to dangerous for people to be in the area, what with all the burned trees and such.

Really? They reopened Black Forest within days after the fire. Not one person killed by a falling tree.

The USFS seems to like to put restrictions out that aren't needed. They do it as well with fire restrictions. Much easier to manage public land when there is no public.

Re: “Police are ticketing far more homeless campers than they once did

Since the above complainants have never spent time in a homeless camp, I'd have to say your opinions are absolute rubbish as well as false propaganda. Most homeless camp alone and those campsites are usually reasonably clean. Some homeless camp in groups, and that's where your trash buildup is. There are many areas in town where once homeless are seen camping, folks go dump their trash and yard debris. Not all trashed areas were created by homeless. If you're not going to be part of the solution, then stop being part of the problem. If you can't spend time at their camp, speak with them....then stop making assumptions about them. There are those whom don't give a shite and trash a given area, that's not most of them. Also, remember how much harder it is to do just about anything...when it takes all day long just to walk to and acquire a single meal, then return to a campsite.

Re: “The left's answer to emboldened white supremacists? A militia of their own.

I'm as far left as they come, and I support armed self defense. However, yea this is a bad look. Like the commenter above me said, they just bought random guns. I get that a panic sets in after Cville, so I'm forgiving of it but they make us all look bad. They need 2 learn.

If your goal is crowd defense, you should have side arms not rifles. Look at the secret service.

Re: “Reader: Peaceful protest are for peaceful people

Well, one has to remember this is an opinion. Not fact. Recalling all the people I know there isn't one who owns guns that is a coward. Most grew up with them hunting. Some went through the military. Not many open carry, a number close carry.

Remember; a crazy person will always find a way to kill others. Knives, fertilizer (OK City), vehicles, etc. a person who doesn't have guns has that choice. They will also call on or need someone with a gun, who knows how to handle it, it a dire emergency.

Who helped save people in the madman's rampage in LV? Police, exmilitary amd others schooled in firearms. These folks saved some lives.

Dave :-)
