Re: “Story Coffee barista/roaster Eliza Lovett recovering after roasting accident

It's wonderful the community rallied around this barista, and a great example of what our community can do, thanks to the Independent. But how many poor and/or minority workers in our community have had an industrial accident that we never heard about, don't have a support network like this young lady, or work in something less interesting to the Indy crowd than elite coffee, or are not in the downtown area near Indy staffers? If the answer is that they aren't interesting to Indy readers, we have a real problem.

Re: “Yellow Face brings social commentary and comedy to the CC stage

I have to wonder, would this resonate with the marginalized communities of Colorado Springs? Colorado College, by median student family income, is the wealthiest private college in the nation with $277,500 in median family income. Now go drive by Chelton and Fountain and then drive around the neighborhoods south and east of there. Would the residents there find this article relevant to their lives? Are the sons and daughters of those Japanese sent to Camp Amache going to Colorado College, or is it the sons and daughters of Chinese government officials and corporate leaders? I can't help but feel this is elites lecturing other elites, and reinforces the perception that Colorado College is a bubble that aspires to claim moral heights, but ignores the application of those ideas in our own community.

Re: “On Trumpcare, activists couldn't sway Rep. Lamborn. But what about Sen. Gardner?

Lamborn is smug and arrogant and not threatened in the least. Watch the video of his town hall up on the north end of town last month. He doesn't care one iota for his constituents who disagree with him. I stopped calling his office long ago. Those of us who voted against him are completely disenfranchised in the House. Until demographics in Colorado Springs change, the best we can do is to become unaffiliated voters, and primary him out. Indeed, the ideal outcome til then is to have a freshman representative every session of the House.

Re: “Old St. Francis Hospital assessed value soars from $50,000 to $2 million following report

Hmm, sounds a lot like the downtown land exchange between the city and the Jenkins clan, where land values were lowered because of a supposed 'cleanup'. I estimate the city has helped the Jenkins clan get at least $2 million in tax deductions in two deals. Ka-ching!

Re: “Watchdogs criticize Trump's easing of ban on 'politicking from the pulpit'

Deb Walker misstates the 1st Amendment, which does NOT call for the "separation between church and state." I recommend she read the 1st Amendment and quote it properly. Her statement is the standard incorrect statement made by those who normally have issues with religious freedom.

Re: “Watchdogs criticize Trump's easing of ban on 'politicking from the pulpit'

Spiritual Law is important in the History of Civilization....................some Politicians find it annoying and a hindrance
to Governments.......................Trump did the what is necessary, remove legal assertions from Officials that Religious
Communities should not have a voice in public affairs .

God Bless Trump !

Re: “Reader: The bright side of a N. Korea nuclear attack?

Mr. "Howell," is that the best you've got? You'll have to get much more creative if you want to get on Putin's payroll. Personally, I hate all traitors trying to sell out America to Russia.

Re: “The future of science ain't what it used to be

"no one actually expects Trump to understand E=mc2." Very few people understand Einstein's theories, as evidenced by the fact that the equation, as printed in the article above, is totally incorrect.

Way to go Tammy Terwelp! You've made so many "tremendous" decisions at KRCC as of late. So many, in fact, that I no longer support you folks...

Parking is available at the Trailhead on Blodgett Ranch Trail. The parking restrictions mentioned in the article were removed in 2016

Just glad we had not yet booked travel! However we had reserved the time off from two places of employment and that may be problematic.

Re: “Lamborn votes 'yes' on GOP health care bill as constituents storm local office

There may be a small bit of satisfaction is seeing many of the Trump supporters get their just payback by losing their own health insurance, there is no satisfaction at all in the realization that nearly half of US voters chose a candidate who was willing to lead this fight against minorities, immigrants, women, the LGBTQ, the elderly, the poor and even the middle class. Whether you're a Bernie, Hillary, or Jill Stein supporter, the message is clear: once a candidate is chosen, we ALL need to get behind and support that person.
