Re: “Banning Lewis Ranch amended annexation agreement released

In 30 years, is the community going to be overly burdened by 2018 thinking and regulation about BLR, in the same way it is supposedly burdened now by the thinking of the '80s? I don't buy the argument that the precautions people took three decades ago suddenly have no meaning.

My point is not to take a position on the subject but to highlight the suspect reasoning in all of this and the need for a dispassionate examination. The Indy seems the best option to make that happen.

Re: “Banning Lewis Ranch amended annexation agreement released

1 walker is a liar he still has ties
2 original agreement had a sound reason and no part of article cover it
3 the northgate annexation was a stimulus for BLA document.

4 county cant expand housing anymore due to the 300 year water supply rule!

5 the site for reference DOES NOT WORK!

Re: “Banning Lewis Ranch approvals to finish by late February

1 this is complete bullshit
2 the study is fake
3 the study is biased
4 Growth NEVER pays it wasy as EVery professional study and long term analysis shows
5 the reason for agreement are false

i am working on response but I would never waste time going to dog and pony show at city council chambers for 3 minutes of input and no debate whatsoever.

Ah well, if George Washington said it in 1796, it must surely apply today, 2 centuries later.....

Re: “Transit Mix bid for a new quarry faces strong opposition

The only evidence offered by the objectors is that they simply do not want another quarry nearby." This is a blatant lie from Transit Mix. The quarry proposal includes shutting down a private road, owned as an easement by property owners west of the proposed quarry site. This road is the sole access to those properties. The quarry has no legal right to ever close down the road, let alone three times a week for indefinite periods of time. This is akin to a quarry opening on your driveway, and denying you access or exit from your house three times a week, for 30 minutes or up to 24 hours each time. The difference is that you can probably park on a street and walk to your house, but in this case there is no other access. This is the primary legal reason that the quarry cannot be where they want to put it. All of the environmental and water issues are important, and may be enough on their own to stop the quarry... but the proposal as it exists today is plainly illegal and was rightfully rejected by the board, and will be again. And if it's not, there will be lawsuits and the quarry will be stopped. They have no legal right to close off access to the properties west of the site, or to shut down the legally owned easement on Little Turkey Creek Rd.

Re: “Maketa, Presley dismissed from federal lawsuit

Well thats interesting @doctormba. Because it was well known that before Elder was elected she was quite vocal about how she would never work for Elder etc....... I guess whoever signs her paychecks is where her loyalty lies...... although for some reason she still complains about him to this day...... but its behind his back lol

Re: “Maketa, Presley dismissed from federal lawsuit

@doctormba: Think about it, its not about who is real to your face, its about who stays real behind your back. I too know all five of those aforementioned individuals. I, however, have seen the dark side of what those people are capable of, so don't go fooling yourself into believing they are something they are not.

You have five people (Rob King, Mitch Lincoln, Rodney Gehrett, Cheryl Peck, and Rob Stone), but there are 10 faces. I am sure you get the point.

Your opinion is garbage. I happen to know these people, and two of them quite well. Cheryl Peck is and continues to be an excellent officer with unquestionable honesty and integrity.

Re: “Maketa, Presley dismissed from federal lawsuit

Aint that some shiX! This is some good news; so thank you Pam for the information!!

So glad the Court of Appeals dismissed their case and sent them packing. Their case was crap from the very beginning and so many of us knew it! King, Gehrett, Lincoln, Stone, and Peck oughta burn in hell for the lies they spread and damage they caused. Its what happens when you sell your soul to the devil. And they know its true.

Re: “Unite Colorado backs unaffiliated candidate in House District 18

your writing is that of a sincere person, but I must disagree with your analysis. It is your very response and many who feel the same that has but this country in the politically paralyzing position we now find ourselves in.

I attribute an independent to a statesman, a person to which looks to serve and not be served. Your thinking that someone who runs as an Independent is secretly a Democrat or Republican, your giving that person much too much credit as no one would try such a stunt because its just so much easier to run with the backing of a well-funded gerrymandering party. Here's an idea, vote for the best person, the patriot who loves this country and puts it first and looks to support good legislation regardless of whose idea or where it came from. Vote your conscience and this country will indeed be great again., Welcome the Independents who run for office because they get it, and I hope with all due respect this helps you get it as well. Here's a quote from our first Independent President that may inspire you as it did me:

"However [political parties] may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion."

Re: “Unite Colorado backs unaffiliated candidate in House District 18

Looks to me like they are trying to kick Democrats out of the State Legislature, and help Repubs gain control. That's a shame because the Democratic-controlled state legislature has done a good job governing since Speaker Andrew Romanoff brought them together in the early 2000s. The obstruction and dysfunction are on the Republican side of the aisle, they killed so many deals last year -- like the fix for roads, their refusal to meet in special session to fix the marijuana tax mistake that had been made, refusing to fund the State energy office because they don't like renewable sources of energy, and on and on. The entry of this woman into the HD 18 race could ensure a victory for Repubs. They are generally not competitive in HD 18, as it has been held by a Democrat for the past 10 years, but if she siphons off enough votes from the Dem, the Repub will win. As a newbie with no experience, she hardly can win. Their strategy is suspect..... 3rd parties have a history of being spoilers.

Re: “Salvation Army warming shelter gets cool response from some — but not all — neighbors

So much free time; so much trash on and around our bike paths. It would be nice to see some "services" by the residents of this "human services shelter".

Now somebody will respond with a guilt trip along the lines of 'why aren't you picking up trash' ,or 'what have you done', or 'have you visited the shelter's and volunteered'. Or 'some of these people have jobs and they still live at the shelter'. "Where will they put the trash"?

All the trash and junk came from somewhere. If a person is so cunning as to be able to live outdoors in Colorado; how can they not figure out where to put any amount of trash they pick up?

It is very charitable, Christian, and benevolent to provide resources for those in need.

We don't see much being done in return.

Meanwhile; hundreds of transients seemingly use Monument Creek, Bear Creek, Shooks Run, and Fountain creek as a bathroom. No permit required.

Raw Sewage? No problem.

Treated potential runoff from a construction site that is also generating economy? Terrible.

Re: “CBI finds "no evidence" to substantiate intimidation of sheriff's notaries

@John D Perhaps you should read the article again? You said "This investigation should have been handled by an out side District Attorneys Office who has no affiliation with Dan May or Elder." Uh, yeah, it was handled by CBI. That is not part of the DA's Office or Sheriff's Office.

That being said, you are right in that this investigation was not complete. They basically called it a "he said, she said" with "no evidence" to prove which side was right. No evidence because they didn't bother to interview the independent witness. Perhaps that was the plan all along?

Re: “Downtown stadium proposed for Antlers Park

I suggested another blighted area, the Greyhound Race Track on North Nevada. Plenty of room and more convenient to both Colorado College and UCCS. Less of a congestion issue than in downtown. If they have their hearts set on pushing a stadium on Colorado Springs, at least be realistic about the size and location of it. There is not enough room in that park for a stadium. The city should move a visitors center there and allow food trucks. Increased activity and security patrols would deter the street people and drug use.
