Re: “Former County Democratic Party leader forms new club to keep politicking

We absolutely have to get past the 2016 election, or we will lose 2018 and most of all, lose the gift that Donald Trump has given us of providing a true alternative to the GOP agenda of destroying our nation. That means setting aside personal feelings over how unfair it was that our preferred candidate for president lost. Acting on those kinds of feelings is a form of selfishness, where we put our emotional needs ahead of the needs of our country on issues like Equality for all races/creeds/enthnicities/sexual orientations, Healthcare, Endless War, ending unlimited campaign contributions, access to education for all, and many more issues that all Democrats fundamentally agree upon. We must focus on the needs of our country and all our fellow citizens, not on our own emotional self-gratification. My advice is to take a tennis racket and beat a pillow yelling "dammit! It's unfair! I hate the unfairness! I hate feeling cheated! I hate what's happened!" until you're exhausted. Then have a nice cup of tea and go meet someone you would have fought with and plan to win 2018 together!

Re: “Protected bike lanes take time to adjust to, as early grievances attest

It's like the city does this on purpose. The intentions are right, the prior education is NOT. Citizens feel like this is always a surprise. Here's some ideas; run some ads in the newspapers and promote the intentions on the news a few weeks before construction starts so that people are inundated with the info. Keep the lighted info signs UP for a few weeks to warn about new traffic lanes. The first few days/weeks of installment, have volunteers out there with cones to show where things are/what's happening. You can't just surprise people. There's also no education for cyclists...just look at the photo above. They think they are safer when in reality, they might be in more danger.

If water was a depreciating asset it might make sense. Water will do nothing but apprciate as the years go on.

There's plenty of work to do in this town to support Democratic candidates, the more help they get, the better. If you want to get involved, get on the mailing list. Send email to CSDemclub@gmail.com. Meetings are held on the 2nd Mon of the month, 5:30-7:30 PM at the Navajo Hogan in the back patio room.

Re: “UPDATE: Springs to make bid for Amazon second headquarters

The EDC and CSCC are smoking some of the fine local medicinals if they think Amazon is coming to a city that has been the laughing stock of the nation for a long time.

It would be nice if 50,000 progressive voters showed up to overtake the jackbooted christian right wing evango-fascist voters here. But there's no way Amazon will consider it; their employees won't locate to a regressive swamp.

The city's pitiful reputation was crafted by endless goofiness from our "christians," by consistent negative news of x-tian nonsense at USAFA, by decrepit infrastructure, by a joke of a government, and amounting to a poison pill to keep the city in perpetual amateur-hour status.

No one of Amazon's stature will locate here until TABOR is repealed and voters decide to man up and do the adult thing of funding their own local government for the sake of their own good.

Until then Colorado Springs has all the charm of a homeless guy limping around with a fully loaded adult diaper perfuming the air.

Uh-oh. When the GOP has a "vision" you can bet it's BOHICA time (Bend Over Here It Comes Again).

Re: “UCCS to spend $6 million on promotion and branding

I agree with Professor Tom Huber that colleges and universities have gotten their priorities skewed from their original mission of education to one of "Who has the best business plan" to attract more students to facilities that are inadequate and instructors that are poorly paid. The Chancellor must be asked,"Can you live on what an instructor is paid?" Of course the answer is 'NO.' So, how does he expect his instructors to do an adequate job if they are hungry? It is no different than a child going to school without breakfast or lunch and he is expected to learn. No difference is there. One cannot learn and the other cannot teach.

With foreign students heading to Canada (Boston Globe 9/16/2017), which diminishes diversity in the educational experience, fees assessed for facilities that a majority of students will never use during their educational experience, the colleges and universities have been turned into full fledged businesses and not educational institutions. With a captive audience they can charge what the market will bare. Education is just a sideline.

Fort Collins just built a $220M stadium. That money could have sent 5500 kids through a 4 year program in a tuition "payback" program. Where is the better investment? The football coach is paid in the 7 figure range. How many quality instructors can you get for that money? Where is the better investment? Building a dorm near a sinkhole which will eventually become a "Money pit" or investing in the students? Which is the better investment?

Colleges and universities need to get out of the education business and back into the business of educating.

You NEVER sell water rights. Droughts happen here. Golf courses should never take precedent over people. Future wars will be fought over "Clear Gold."

Re: “Cold beauty

Quail Hill MHP are just crooks! I have lived there and watched management threaten people they don't like of losing their homes. They are unreasonable and pick on people for whatever reason. They really are quite crazy with expectations of people in the park. I understand wanting a nice and clean park but this is a trailer park we are talking about! Not the Broadmoor! Last time I understood people lived in trailers due to not being able to afford a home. So expecting them to pay all this money to fix, landscape and even in my particular neighbors notice recement or fix cracked driveway. thousands of dollars for property he only rents (and usually your given 5 whole days to complete) its not gonna happen. Which then gives them power to EVICT! Sick bunch of management! Don't live there!!!! The park is nice and clean but if you don't want them breathing down your neck for everything i don't recommend it!

Re: “UPDATE: MRFF calls out chaplain who says not all religions need constitutional protection

This "chaplain" should be booted out of the military immediately. The United States is not a "christian nation", never was, never will be (I hope). The United States was founded on tolerance, diversity, and the freedom to worship any god, or none at all. Otherwise we are no better than our enemies in Afghanistan. Bigotry, hatred and persecution by the majority have no place here.

Re: “UPDATE: MRFF calls out chaplain who says not all religions need constitutional protection

Aside from the hypocrisy involved by someone who ostensibly believes that 'thou shalt not bear false witness...' thing clearly lying about supporting & defending the Constitution (perhaps there's domionist 'finger-crossing' maneuver that gets around committing that particular sin, or maybe he believes in a Christian variant of 'takiyya' - wrongly said by Islamophobes to be an allowance for Muslims to lie when convenient - that does allow Christians to lie... whenever), is the issue of the domionist infiltration of our government (they use 'creeping Shari'a as a misdirection to cover their own 'creeping domionism') at all levels. In this instance the military (they're dying to get their end-times hands on the nukes!) but now in the highest levels of government; including the 'current occupant' & his hand-picked advisors. Make no mistake, the agenda is the creation of the mythical 'Christian Nation' David Barton reconstructs history to say once existed. Our secular democratic government is at risk and the Demopublican Janus-faced duopoly maintains business as usual... going along to get along; Weimar 1930.

Re: “UPDATE: MRFF calls out chaplain who says not all religions need constitutional protection

I have not been censored, which I appreciate. But I am censored across the internet for saying that same thing, that no gods exist else prove otherwise. I believe that Separation of Church and State says the same, you cannot prove any god and therefore our government must prevent their intrusion into the conductance of the affairs of reality.

Re: “UPDATE: MRFF calls out chaplain who says not all religions need constitutional protection

The real problem is that no gods exist, never have and never will. If one demands using gods as authority then they should have to prove the existence of that god here in reality where we live, something that has never been done and will never be done. All the conversations about gods boils down to this, until proven otherwise then they have no business in our society. Hmm, looks like I am censored, big surprise, that's how the truth is controlled.

Re: “UPDATE: MRFF calls out chaplain who says not all religions need constitutional protection

The military is not a church or religious organization. It, like our government, is supposed to be a secular organisation, blind to religious issues. The military, like our government, is supposed to allow freedom of religion without advocating one religion over another. One of the primary reasons the founding fathers of our country left Great Britain was due to the fact that the Anglican Church was intertwined with the government and they didn't want that. If we are to allow the free practice of Christianity in the military, than other religions are welcome as well.

So riddle me this.... if we didn't have all of these canyons, and everything was flat, where would all of the water go when we have heavy downpours?
