Re: “City legal advisor shifts to Parks Department

So, an attorney who was responsible for attempting to "trade away" some of our treasured park land (think: Strawberry Fields; STILL in litigation!) to the Fraudmore, is going to be an advocate for the "stewardship and conservation" of our Parks?!? I think not! I trust her as much as I trust Karen Palus...

Re: “Whirlyball to bring recreation, craft beer to central Springs

Speak for yourself! I think it's time for LivesLocally to live elsewhere.

Matt, I'm excited for this place too and I was also at the soft opening. Super fun! And it's taking over a space that's been empty way too long. Very cool!

Re: “Nicoletta, Jaray running for Manitou mayor

I have lived in Manitou and the Pikes peak region for 42 years, never has Manitou suffered by a totally incompetent Mayor as it has with Nicole Nicoletta. This woman has proven to us all :
a .she doesn't care about the public process, will bully citizens at council meetings and would rather NOT MEET WITH CITIZEN GROUPS(denied meeting with large groups 3x before using the POLICE to help her CUT DOWN TREES on Canon Avenue- Nicole is a RUDE BULLY !!
b. has no idea what living in a "Historical" town means. Consistently jams through useless construction projects with no advance warning's to huge "material change of appearance" for the town
c. Nicole has been a horrible leader with consistently flawed decisions on a wide variety of Manitou topics such as : parking : Wrapping Soda Springs park in steel to keep the homeless(and everybody else) out of the park while sponsoring a food bank 300 yards down the street for the homeless; Zero Tolerance program ; Cutting of trees needlessly on Canon Avenue : Consistently lying to the public - Nicoletta and her administration have graduated from the Kelly Anne Conway school of alternative facts!
d. In two council meetings alone Nicoletta WASTED $800,000.00 ofcitizens funds.... Manitou is a small town with a modest budget. Someone whom has been on food stamps recently SHOULD NOT BE ANYWHERE NEAR A $12million budget ! she has no experience .
e. All of Nicoletta's combined policies have damaged the reputation of Manitou Springs, she does not care about the voting locals at all. SHE MUST BE REMOVED !!

Re: “Racketeering case against Pueblo weed growers (partially) revived by federal court

"The Reilly's who don't actually live in Pueblo " , this is a Trumped up case, they don't live there ....complain about the smell , you mean they can smell anything above the horse poop. Ah an out of state special interest group is promoting the case.....and I'll bet they own stock in an Opioid manufacturer !

Re: “Whirlyball to bring recreation, craft beer to central Springs

I wish him luck, but this guy apparently didn't do much research. Nobody within 3 miles of Rustic Hills drinks craft beer and Colorado Springs is far from a bowling mecca. The only thing being rolled around here are drunks and joints.

Re: “Reader: We all know why the Civil War took place

Are you insane? do you even read or know history? your letter shows you don't get it AT ALL. ok lets start with some history, the colonists came to america to avoid religious prosecution , and a big government telling them how to live every facet of their lives. they made a good run at it got a country up and running , fought hard to keep their land and tend their crops to feed their people. This went well for a while, alot of trade and commerce came and went. from slaves to products. (slaves were brought by over by dutch and other immigrates in the form of INDENTURED SERVITUDE.) That's right they broke laws and were paying for it. slaves caught on over here as a form of labor. Many of the people in the south DID NOT own slaves, only a few very wealthy people did. now to the civil war..... it wasn't about slaves NEVER WAS..... it was about a government coming into people lives and telling them what they can and cannot do less than 100 yrs after their fathers and mothers fought to get out from under such oppression. They didn't like the fact that this new government was AGAIN telling them how to live.....did the government till the ground? did it plant the crops? did it harvest them? then how did the government have the right to tell them what to do? THIS WAS THE MIND SET. and they went to war over it. IT WAS NEVER ABOUT SLAVES BUT THE FREEDOM TO DO THEY WISHED.

That's a great way to look at it Dana. I feel the human contact is key to have a well rounded educations. THis is something computers can not match.

Re: “Letter of counseling surfaces in El Paso County Sheriff's Office case

Just another argument for ridding ourselves of the elected Sheriff position. People in charge of law enforcement have to be well-trained, experienced, and show a history of excellent job performance. They should NOT be in this position because they spent more on election day yard signs than someone else.

Re: “CU regents OK funding for UCCS sports medicine center

Medical tourism is not something a destination or a medical institution can absolutely count on like other markets that coordinate conferences. For example, you have a spine issue that your local physician or hospital is not equipped to help you so you travel to the Scoliosis & Spine Center in Salt Lake City to get the best care. Your surgery is specialized and you will be confined to the hospital for several weeks followed up by extensive rehab. Your family travels with you to give support and they need to stay at a nearby hotel. That is medical tourism. If people have the money and can afford medical treatment at these specialized facilities, why is that repugnant? What's repugnant is our government, Veterans Affairs primarily, does not invest the necessary resources (money, people, equipment, etc.) to ensure Veterans get the best care. Completely separate.

Re: “CU regents OK funding for UCCS sports medicine center

The idea that "health and wellness" have become such income producers that they are sources of tourism is repugnant, especially in an academic institution in a state where people are dying in rural areas because of lack of medical care. By the standards Jackie Reynolds lists, a trip to Italy to visit a church is tax-deductible because it is a spiritual activity. Meanwhile, veterans can't get basic medical care in a timely fashion.

So, when are the open space advocates going to say something about UCCS ruining one of the more beautiful pieces of property in Colorado Springs?
