Re: “Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery

Wonderful! Enjoyed the plot as well as the humor. The various accents and costume changes showed the skill of these actors and was well-played. Well done to all!!!

Re: “World Suicide Prevention Day

I attended this event yesterday. I went to this event by myself. I think I was the only person there alone, it seemed, in the 70+ attendees. I sat cheerfully, listening to the speakers and people watching during the breaks. I was there one hour and fifteen minutes. Perhaps it was my dreadlocks or the fact that my clothes weren't fancy, but not one person came up to me and shook my hand or looked me in the eyes and asked me "Hi who are you? How are you?" Sitting alone at a table, I did get asked to move so that another group of girls could sit there. And sitting on the couch alone I did have a guy rudely squeeze in beside me with no regard to the fact I was there. And yet speaker after speaker the message was "You are not alone". I feel sadness and still compassion regarding my experience. Increasing awareness about suicide is wonderful. And yet, suicide is not an idea or a notion. It is an act, committed by persons. I am a person. My father committed suicide, my brother attempted suicide and I have been suicidal in the past but am no longer struggling with this, thankfully. My recovery wasn't because of messages or speakers or slogans. It's because people made me loved and warm.

Re: “Compassus Hospice & Palliative Care

Horrible. We never dealt with a hospice company before, thank goodness but this is horrible. We were given a case manager hospice nurse ( monique) well my mon fell at home july 4th and we were told call 24.7 we are here. 1st lie. I called and they said give her morphine its a holiday. Well her care giver was called first thing next morning because my mom was in pain, of course no answer so i called on call and another lady showed up right away. Well to my understanding her care giver was there also but come to find out showed up at 230pm then out at 330 cause she was starving. My mom was transported to the nursing home and when she got here she was covered from head to toe in pee. The nurses and ambulance driver even stated how no one cleaned her up. I call this company and asked who responsible for the pee and they said hospice. So it being after hrs i complained to who ever would listen since the on call nurses dont answer. They statrd the pee happened during transport but cant explain why its all over the bed and couch she was on. Hmmmm. By the way i was with her during transport she didnt pee.

Fwd to today her care giver monique comes into the room at the home. I never seen her before so had no idea. She introduced herself and i asked for the new nurse. In a confrontational way she asked why. I said yes because my mom was covered in piss. She stated she only spent an hour with my mom that day so not her responsibility. I said what an hour!! And you had.to go at 330 becausr.you were starving??? She said excuse me and I asked her to leave becausr shes so unprofessional. My mother is dying and she wants to argue in my moms room.

I called the company and they are saying they know the caregiver left at 430 not 330. What shit shes obviously lying on her.time. i have been treated with crap from this place in such a small time. Compassionate people is bull here. I met 2 girls that had hearts only.

Re: “After Dark

Broadway Quality singing, dancing and acting. Someday these emerging stars will be on Broadway. Everyone around me had a wonderful time. And the post show encore/olio showcased hit songs from the beebop 50s. From the program notes, it looks like actors were recruited from all over the U.S.: very professional. Fun evening.... no one wanted to leave the theater!

Re: “City Summer Fest

Not worth the money. If you don't pay for the wrist band you buy tokens which are $1/ token. Most rides are 3 tokens but I saw one ride that was $7 (tokens), and the wrist band wasn't accepted. The price of the drinks and food is crazy high and they only take tokens. $3 for a 16 oz bottle of water. You could take your own drinks in a backpack and not waste so much money. The rides were ok and it wasn't too crowded.

Re: “Constituent-hosted Town Hall: "With or Without You 2"

I was at the last event and the volunteer organizers did a great job. Neither Senator Gardner nor Representative Lamborn showed up, sent a staffer in their place, or even had a comment for us after the fact. Let's let them know that we expect to be heard. A huge show of force will send a strong message, whether they show or not.

Re: “Amanda's Fonda

We are long time West Siders, We knew the Woman who opened Amanda's Fonda in honor of her Sister. The food was very uniquely Mexican food and the people and service were wonderful. They have gone terribly down hill!
I went there yesterday with my girl friend who had a dinner plate I had the bowl of Menudo which had 4-5 pieces of tripe and very little homeny it was not good. I ordered the Broracho Chicken to take home for my Husband and I to share. This USED to be a wonderful, flavorful dish and a lot of it! Now you get a quarter of the dish...after eating this dish both my husband and I got Violently Sick!! With major chills, upset stomach and aches and pains!
When my husband went to let the Management know they were just rude and blew it off!!
We WILL be going to the Health Department!!DO NOT Eat Here!!!

Re: “"From the Bottom Up: One Man's Crusade to Clean America's Rivers"

Great ad, but the location is not correct on the map. The event is in Berger Hall which is in the University Center, not near the Recreation Center. Parking is in the Gateway Garage levels 4 and 5, which is GTWG on Campus map: http://map.uccs.edu/
